Twinning Assisted alpha to omega Phase Transformation in Titanium Single Crystal

We employ molecular dynamics simulations to simulate the c-axis compression of single crystal Ti at high strain rate under uniaxial strain conditions. The Schmid factor calculations have been performed to understand the activation of compression twin systems and the c-vector calculations have been performed to identify the activated compression twin systems and their variants. The signature of pressure-induced omega-phase is obtained by performing the structure factor calculations. The orientation relationship between a and. phases obtained matches with that reported in experiments.
