X-shaped junction formation between two crossed single-walled carbon nanotubes with various chiralities is investigated using molecular dynamics simulations. By creating a junction not only with heat, but also with vibration, the required temperature is significantly reduced. The created junctions are characterized by bond number and bond order, which are compared with those formed without vibration. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
