Influence of Irradiation on Mobility of Edge Dislocations in Fe-10Cr Alloy

The dislocation mobility near irradiated free surfaces in the Fe-10Cr alloy was studied. Calculations were carried out on the basis of the molecular dynamics method. It was found that the mobility of dislocation loops depends on the size, direction of the Burgers vector, and also their location relative to the free surface. Dislocation loops with the length less 8-11 nm escaped on the free surface. An increase in the crystallite temperature led to the escape of some previously immobile dislocations on the free surface. It was shown that a higher shear load is required for crystallites with damaged structure to shift the edge dislocations than for crystallites with an ideal structure. Vacancy loops of large sizes and interstitial loops can be moved by edge dislocations in the direction of shear loading.
