The paper investigates the laws of plastic deformation of an alpha-Ti bicrystal containing a beta-phase inclusion under conditions of scratch testing. The studies were carried out using the molecular dynamics method. It is shown that under compressive stresses the beta-phase is recrystallized into the alpha-phase. As a result of the interaction of inclusion atoms with dislocations emitted from the contact zone of the indenter with the sample, the rearrangement of the lattice occurs even before the indenter reaches the interphase boundary. The simulation results show a good qualitative agreement with the available experimental data.
